QuinStar Celebrates 26 Years of Millimeter-wave Innovation
QuinStar recently celebrated our 26th year in business! QuinStar designs and manufactures millimeter-wave products for communication, scientific, and test applications. We excel in microelectronic assembly, rapid prototyping, and mass customization.
As a result, we serve both established and emerging markets with system applications in the commercial, scientific, and defense arenas. Accordingly, QuinStar is certified to ISO9001:2015 / AS9100D.
Capitalizing on our past […]
QuinStar Announces New Product: Medium-Power Termination
New product! QuinStar recently added a Waveguide Medium-Power Termination to our product line up. QTG features a standard waveguide flange interface from 18 – 110 GHz in K through W bands. The termination is a short length of waveguide and an integral matched terminal load. We designed a gradual taper in order to ensure a low VSWR over the full […]
QuinStar Attending APS March Meeting in Boston
QuinStar is exhibiting next week at the APS March Meeting. The American Physical Society will convene at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
We’ll unveil some new cryogenic products and prototypes. In addition, QuinStar is offering the unique opportunity to meet one-on-one with our design engineer. We understand that the requirements change rapidly in the emerging technologies that rely on cryogenic […]
QuinStar Donates to UCB in Memory of William Tap Lum
In 1952, our friend and colleague, William Tap Lum, entered UC Berkeley to study the science closest to his heart—astronomy. He never left the UCB Radio Astronomy Laboratory, continuing to work part time even after “retiring” in 1994. In sum, Tap’s lifetime contributions to the field are immeasurable.
To honor and remember Tap, QuinStar has donated a $10,000 stipend to […]
QuinStar Remembers William Tap Lum
With sadness, QuinStar announces the passing of noted cryogenic researcher William Tap Lum. He worked at the Radio Astronomy Laboratory at UC Berkeley. Tap teamed up with David Williams and Harold Weaver to found Berkshire Technologies, Inc. The company made cryogenically cooled low-noise amplifiers. His products supported the research of many physicists and radioastronomers for years before the recent development […]
QuinStar Engineer Captures Orion Nebula
At QuinStar, we’re about more than millimeter-wave technology. The people comprising QuinStar pursue diverse and exciting outside interests.
Our Chief Engineer, Jim Schellenberg, is a highly skilled amateur astronomical photographer. He captured this beautiful image of the Orion nebula using a specially modified Canon 6D. The camera responds to the H-alpha spectral line at 656 nm (from hydrogen gas), which is […]
